Comfortable Fit, Clear Vision: Navigating Contact Lens Comfort

Our contact lens exams go beyond prescription updates; they also involve screening your eyes for any problems that can interfere with contact lens wear. We’ll also evaluate the fit of the lenses on your eyes.

Lifestyle Lens Match: Making Sure Your Contacts Fit

Just as no two lifestyles are identical, neither are the visual needs that come with them. We ensure that your contact lenses not only provide crisp and comfortable vision, but also align with your unique lifestyle demands. We’ll also teach you how to insert and remove them during your exam and give you a sample pair to test out at home.

Post-Fitting Lens Checkups

Our commitment to your eye health doesn't end with the initial fitting. Follow-up appointments allow us to ensure that your lenses continue to provide optimal comfort and performance. Any adjustments needed are addressed promptly and the importance of proper hygiene and storage will be emphasized.

Daily Contact Lenses

These lenses are designed for single-use, offering a fresh pair every day. With no need for cleaning or storage, daily contact lenses are perfect for children, people with busy lifestyles, and occasional wear.

Bi-Weekly and Monthly Contact Lenses

For flexibility in contact lens wear, consider bi-weekly or monthly contact lenses. These lenses can be worn for two weeks or a month, respectively, before being replaced. They strike a balance between affordability and longevity, making them a popular choice for many. Extended wear options also allow you to wear contacts for 7 to 30 days without removing them.

Specialty Contact Lenses for Hard-to-Fit Eyes

Ivy Hills Eyecare takes pride in being able to fit contact lenses on even the most challenging eye shapes which are unable to experience clear vision with regular contacts.

Some of the hard-to-fit eye conditions we offer specialty contact lenses for are:

  • Irregularly shaped cornea caused by astigmatism, keratoconus and other conditions
  • Dry eye
  • Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis (GPC)
  • Post-refractive surgery
  • Corneal scarring
  • Anisometropia (eyes with two different prescriptions)
  • Neurological conditions that affect the eyes

Our custom-fitted specialty lenses ensure not only optimal vision correction but also superior comfort, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of contact lenses regardless of your eye's unique characteristics..

Types of Specialty Contact Lenses

Our array of specialty contact lenses include various types to suit different hard-to-fit conditions, such as:

Gas permeable (GP) lenses: Also known as rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, they offer excellent vision correction for irregular corneas, ensuring sharper and clearer sight. RGP lenses are uniquely designed to provide a smooth and consistent refractive surface for light to enter the eye, compensating for the irregular shape of the cornea. What sets RGP lenses apart is their rigid nature and the permeability of the material they are made from which allows oxygen to reach the cornea, promoting eye health while maintaining a stable fit.

Scleral Lenses: Large-diameter lenses that vault over the entire cornea and rest on the white part of the eye (sclera), creating a stable tear-filled pocket over the cornea that corrects vision.

Toric Lenses: These lenses are specifically designed to correct astigmatism and have different powers to compensate for the astigmatism, providing clear vision.
